-My personality is a hard working always needs to be interested type and this allows me to
always be learning, working hard and helping others.
-With this major and career I will be able to everyday be challenging myself to be better and
helping those whose position I once was in. This is exactly what I want.
Opportunities-
-This degree will be an obvious prerequisite for my teaching career that would otherwise not be a
possibility.
-I hope that the knowledge I gain from this will be something I can use to teach my family as
will and will keep me constantly learning and evolving.
-I luckily have two professors in this field that are dedicated to seeing me succeed and are a great
asset to this progress.
Weaknesses-
-The math and science courses will be difficult for me in this major I have always struggled with
them and wish I did not have to manage them.
-It will take me three more years to get this degree and I will then be prepared for the next step in
becoming a history teacher.
-This major will be what my entire life surrounds and I cannot wait to devote my entire life to it
not only the three years it takes to complete.
Threats-
-Financing my education is a concern I have that am working to manage by having a job that I
am able to support myself with while financial aid covers my tuition.
-The idea of social work interests me but I don’t plan on that being a major or lasting distraction.
-I worry that as the economy declines my position as a teacher will be increasingly hard to
obtain.

Transferable Skills Letter
Debate graduate seeking teaching position
Being a debate graduate as I am I possess skills such as researching and case composing which I believe will be helpful in the area of teaching because I can just as effectively formulate lesson plans that will properly pertain to my students just as my cases pertained to my public forum debates. Through my debating career I also developed the skill of reassessing approaches to concepts that would best benefit my current audience, this skill can be equally applied in my teaching career as I can adapt my knowledge and teaching plans to what is best suited for my students successful comprehension. In addition to these skills one of the most beneficial skills I possess that would be an asset to my career as a teacher is my ability to manage my time effectively. This will allow me to keep up with the assignment of my students to better craft my next assignments to their needs based on recent feedback on their grades. I have total confidence that these skills that I possess will make me an asset to your teaching staff.

Skills Assessment
I took this assignment with a slightly different approach. most of my fellow classmates have reported the survey to be too broad and inaccurate but i marked more of the skills i hoped to soon develop and i found my results to be such as a social worker and mental health area which i found encouraging to what i want to do. This showed me some of my potential options are.
I believe my top skills are Speaking, Writing and Reading comprehension. These all are critical for the area of teaching that I want to go into. The three skills that I enjoy are persuasion, negotiation and instructing. These will also aid in my teaching career as I am able to accurately portray my teaching style and effectively instruct my future students. I think that three skills I perform well are my ability to manage time, social perceptiveness and coordination. Skills I am working to develop are system analysis and evaluation and management of personnel resources.
I was placed in positions of education and social work mostly which pleased me since those are the areas i am most interested in. However suggestions such as logging director i found to be off base and wished i had more suggestions closer to the areas i was interested in.
